Music Producer & Afro Pop artist launched a debut album- “Sub-Saharan”

Born and raised in the Sub-Saharan region of Africa. Michael, popularly known as Micyunging. Is a music producer & AfroPop artist based in North America.

According to Micyunging, music has and will always be his first love. His musical career started at a very young age.

Even though he chose a different career as a computer engineer, his passion and soft spot for music never faded. Sub-Saharan 12 track album is a testament of his love for music.

Track 01 – Nyeredzi, was recently premiered on Zimbabwe’s top radio channel 99.3 PowerFm. The Nyeredzi song is all about the matters of the heart.

The song caught the ears of his daughter (Yannah) as she was present in the studio as he was producing it. Even though she is too young to understand what was happening, the way she was vibing to the song was evident enough that that song deserves to trend and be a hit. He added on to say he feels that Ms. Yannah co-produced it somehow as her presence made it a great song.

The album has a lot of good songs which includes Ndarama which features a local Zimbabwean producer called Ellz MarlonAir of MaRecords Music based in F.I.O. Harare. Ellz MarlonAir co-produced most of the songs on the album as he was responsible for making the beats and adding taste to the vocals through featuring on some of the songs.

We can not talk of an album without QuaZor, who is Micyunging’s closest friends and music brother. QuaZor who is one of the youngest Zimbabwean award winning producers and president of Young Gamez Entertainment, produced Rukova, Ndinokufunga, Sunungurai, co-produced My Love, Pauri ndopandiri and Are you ready.

Micyunging says he is grateful for having music friends who keeps inspiring him to keep making more music, nomatter the geographic distance, he can still work with them remotely.

Track number 6 – Nhange Mutange is a politically inspired song. Written in 2019 after seeing the political events happening in his home country. Micyunging believes in freedom of speech and expression which is why he did that song, to enable any artist willing to speak out to do it freely without fear. The song could not be launched in Zimbabwe as the country’s media is censored by the tyrant government under President Emerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, who succeeded the former late president Robert Gabriel Mugabe.

In the Nhange Mutange song, he will be mentioning issues like the land reform program which he believes never benefited the true Heroes of the liberation struggle that led Zimbabwe getting its independence in 1980. He says the land was not distributed fairly as the rich become richer and the poor become poorer. So because of this controversial lyrics the song never got to see the doors of any radio station in Zimbabwe.

Track number 9 – Sunungurai Is another politically motivated song which was more of a part 2 of Nhange Mutange, and once again this will not see the gates of any radio stations in Zimbabwe as they are state controlled, sadly.

The album is bundled by mostly love songs; Tack number 4 – My love, Track number 7 – Ndinokufunga, Track number 10 – Pauri ndopandiri, Track number 11 – Chiedza and last but not least track number 12 – Wandodada naye which featured his best friend Ephraim aka King Hu$tle based in Qatar.

You can not talk of the Sub-Saharan region without talking about its Culture, track number 3 Midzimu yangu is a track that has a “jiti” feel, fussed with urban contemporary sound. The song talks about the forefathers (the ones that the people of the Southern part of Africa used to consult before making any bold decisions) this is not a new song to many but it was remixed and fussed to cater for new generations to understand how it used to happen in the ancient times.

Track number 2 – Rukova shares the same feel with Track 3, as it talks about the forefathers of the African traditions.

For the dancehall fans, track number 8 – Are you ready is a party song to bring a turn up vibe to the album. This song was produced in 2017 but was never released. Micyunging believed that one day he will have an album that will accommodate it as this is a different type of sound as compared to what he normally makes.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we present to you the long awaited album, Sub-Saharan Featuring: Ellz MarlonAir, CaYGE, Ms. Friedel, King Hu$tle, H20, DaKid Verse, Mukai & Dope Fresh.
